Hi there!

Thank you for visiting Toofles.com.
We are a fledgling organization today with one burning desire – to truly create a revolution in “giving”. You can start right now. All you have to do is just reach right into your cupboards for that “something” which you have not used for months. That’s all. But for a child facing starvation or an 80-year facing destitution, you have changed their world. They have a new lease on life just because you decided to give off stuff which you no longer need. Making a difference was never so simple.
I sincerely believe that we can help change a million lives over the next 10 years. And I know we can do it with your help. I see so much of eagerness around me of people willing to help - volunteers, schools, colleges, corporates, housing societies and individuals.
All want to contribute.
All want to impact lives.
All want to make a difference.
We, at Toffles.com Foundation, are committed to reaching out to them in a way that is effective and practical.

What is it that we do?

It’s very simple, actually.

We need people like you to dig into their cupboards to look for stuff that they have not used for months or would not be using again. It could be clothes, shoes, accessories, linen, utensils, plastic containers, crockery, books, toys, musical instruments, furniture, home decor items, DVDs, CDs, computers, computer games, appliances, electronic items........You get the picture? It could be anything that you do not want. All you do is give it to us.

What do we do with it?
We collect it all in one place and have a sale.

Here is where you start to immediately make a difference. A number of economically underprivileged come for the sale where they get to buy your second-hand stuff at fabulous bargains, which, in normal circumstances, they would never have been able to acquire.

That’s not all. We then collect this money and give it to a non-governmental organisation (NGO) of your choice. That’s right! YOU get to choose the cause that you want to donate to. So ultimately, your second-hand stuff has helped the underprivileged and the money raised has further worked for beneficiaries of your selection.

Still not convinced? Check this out.
Here’s a sample of how even small amounts raised from the sale of second-hand items can make the world of a difference to many lives.

  • Rs 900 will help a woman in the rural area own a smokeless stove. Not only is it more environmentally friendly and definitely more healthy, but it will eventually help in lowering down the rate of eye cancer in rural India.
  • Rs 1,500 can help a person see by way of sponsoring a cataract operation.
  • Rs 1,500 can help a child walk with the help of callipers.
  • Rs 3,500 can give a handicapped person a tricycle to transport his vending cart to enable him to earn a livelihood.
  • Rs 6,000 will enable children in the villages study at night after they have worked in the field during the day.
  • Rs 10,000 will help one drought-prone village harvest rain water.

All you did was share your excess, second-hand stuff which you did not need anymore. But in doing so, you changed lives! And, in helping all these people, you have even helped Planet Earth because your plastic and all other stuff is being re-used and not junked.

Our Vision

We, at Toofles.com Foundation, do believe that a large number of people have an inherent desire to contribute to society in some way.
Simultaneously, we also acknowledge that there are a large number of grass root organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) doing commendable work in a variety of fields and impacting many lives.
Our vision is to create a link to connect people to the causes of their choice.

Toofles.com Foundation is inspired by the word “tofa” or “gift”. It envisages people donating second-hand items which are then bought by other people. The funds raised in this way would be contributed to various accredited NGOs working towards various causes, including the education of children, protection of the environment, care for the aged, and employment generation, to name just a few.

Toofles.com Foundation is independent of any political ideology or religious creed. Our work is guided by the desire to create a practical link between the donor and the beneficiary.
Donors prefer giving in kind. Beneficiaries are in need of funds. We do the translation from kind to cash.

We are not a destination in itself. We are just the facilitators.

Our Guiding Principles

  • Donors prefer to donate in kind, not cash.
Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) prefer to receive in cash, not kind.
Toofles Foundation helps translate the kind into cash.
  • We do not compete with other NGOs or charities. We complement them by helping raise funds for them.
  • We are not a destination, just a channel.
  • We are cause agnostic and the donor is free to select the one of his/her/their choice.

Where does the money eventually go?

Toofles.com Foundation had tied up with GiveIndia.org, a donation platform that allows you to support a cause of your choice from over 100 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that have been scrutinised for transparency and credibility.

All you have to do is select a cause. Once you do so, you can narrow down in a specific NGO. This ensures that you know exactly where your money went.

Toofles.com, in turn, ensures that at least 90% of the contributions coming from the sale of your second hand stuff is aggregated and sent to GiveIndia for the cause of your choice.

Click right here to select a cause and then narrow down on an NGO of your choice.

Have a question?

  • What is it that you want individuals to give you?

Any second-hand stuff that they no longer need. It could be clothes, shoes, accessories, linen, carpets, curtains, utensils, plastic containers, crockery, books, toys, musical instruments, furniture, home decor items, DVDs, CDs, computers, computer games, appliances, electronic items........anything.

  • Can corporates or schools also give you their second-hand stuff?

Most certainly. We welcome donations in kind from any source.

  • Do you donate these items directly to charity?

No. We have a sale where these items are sold at heavily discounted rates to enable economically underprivileged people purchase them. The money earned from this sale goes to a charity.

  • Do you select the organisation to which the money goes to?

No. Since it is you who have donated the goods, the privilege and honour of selecting the cause you would like to sponsor, as well as the specific non-governmental organization (NGO), rests with you.

  • From where do I make my selection of NGOs?

We have tied up with Give India Foundation. You can access them online. They track NGOs operating for various causes: education, disabled, children, elderly, women, youth, employment, environment, health and human rights. You can select the field and within it, narrow down on a choice.

  • How do I know that the NGO is a good one?

Give India Foundation has done a sanity check on a number of reliable NGOs operating in various fields. The organizations listed are doing impressive work. They maintain financially transparent records and audited accounts and have been scrutinized for transparency and credibility.

  • What if I have an NGO of my preference which I would like the money to go to and it is not listed on Give India Foundation?

Then, by all means, we shall send the proceeds of the sale to the NGO of your choice.

  • How does the Toofles.com Foundation manage its overheads?

We retain 10% from the sale of items. The balance 90% reaches the organization you support.
